Progressive Care Nuts and Bolts

In this two-day program, participants will explore selected topics that every progressive care nurse should know. 

General concepts will be covered to allow application to a wide variety of progressive care settings, and comprehensive assessment and treatment modalities will be introduced to stimulate the experienced clinician. 

Each topic will be presented in a case study format highlighting the “red flags” to watch for along with cutting-edge treatment strategies.

  11. Describe the effects of the three major consequences of systemic inflammation.
  12. Explore electrolyte abnormalities.
  13. Describe components of the complete blood count.
  14. Use 6-steps to analyze ABGs.
  15. Explain the benefits of several treatment options for Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
  16. Compare and contrast treatment options for various types of Pulmonary Edema.
  17. Plan care for the patient with acute stroke or TIA.
  18. Describe several novel treatments for acute stroke.
  19. Plan care for patients in cardiac arrest using the principles of the new AHA standards.
  20. Compare and contrast care for patients with various pacemakers and AICDs.
